the current identity politics is based on the primacy of the self, with a very finite existence. I can’t relate to this. I live another way. A way that assumes eternity. That really what’s at stake. Our different view of time. Why would, or better, should I build a durable building that would last a millennium or two. The logic of the strip mall is obvious, it is a philosophy of a way of life. The infatuation, nay fetish with the finite self. This inwardness that sees difference with others as a gauge of worth, 0f intrinsic value, self gratification. Its a life of perpetual masturbation at best. No one can live like that though, everyone needs an anchor of humanity that only comes with an other. So homosexuality can be second best. But the tragectory, the telos is communal sameness. Its banal, its tyranny. A reincarnation of Plotinus’ emanation. A downgraded form of the ideal self.

But is that the ‘best form of life’? The good life, the good society, culture. How is a culture made? By the extension of the self through time and space. Ideas have consequences. What we do with our time does something permanent, or impermanent. It a choice, an obvious choice, but why?
